About Dean Elson:

My Musical Background:

I play Clarinet, Soprano, Alto, C Melody, Tenor, Baritone Sax's and started playing from a very early age. As well as Clarinet and all Saxophones, I also play and experiment on E.W.I. "Electronic Woodwind Instrument" with band's. I started playing the Recorder at school at the age of 6 years, and at the age of 10 years I started on Clarinet and studied both Clarinet and Theory of music until the age of 15 when I then started to learn the finer points of playing Sax. Although not a truly accomplished Musician, I have gigged with most bands in the South of England, with an excellent reputation as a improviser and a session Musician. In 2000 I returned to the UK, I was formerly living in Eire. A session Musician for countless years, I have gigged with many known Musician's and some not so known. I have my roots firmly planted in Soul / Jazz / Blues which goes a long way to describing my melodic, soulful approaches to melody lines, I have been described as "One of the South's Premier Sax players", and I work with Soul / Jazz / Blues and other function band's in the South of England region. Soprano Sax is a particular love of mine, and this really does come across in many of the numbers I have in my various Sax set's, the almost crying melody's of the Soprano Sax, are a testament to this, and the envy of many a fine Sax player. I have for years studied improvisation and the art of this most unusual music form, which bears witness in my playing, and is unusual, with my melodic overtones. I was first introduced to Sax from an early age, and I have been playing ever since, Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) theory exams under my belt complimented with my soulful playing and improvisation, improves the atmosphere and sound of many band's. I have had the great honor and pleasure to have played with and for the following known, and not so known Musician's and group's, whilst working as one of the South of England's leading session Musician's.
